Safe and Sound Protocol
Calm your nervous system. Connect more deeply with yourself and others.
Gentle, Evidence-Based Listening Therapy
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is now offered at The Meadows Outpatient Centers in Chicago and Scottsdale. This gentle, evidence-based listening therapy uses specially filtered music to help regulate the nervous system. By sending signals of safety to the body, the SSP can reduce stress, improve emotional balance, and make it easier to build meaningful relationships.
When your nervous system feels safe, it’s easier to rest, recover, and engage in therapy and daily life. The SSP may support those living with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, autism, or sensory processing challenges.
Benefits May Include:
- Reduced stress and greater resilience
- Improved emotional regulation
- Easier connection with others
- Deeper engagement in therapy
- Reduced sound sensitivity
- Increased GI function, an increased sense of safety (internally/neuroceptively), and a decrease in pain
The Safe and Sound Protocol is delivered in person or virtually under the guidance of a trained provider, making it flexible and accessible for children, teens, and adults.
