Women’s Outpatient Intimacy Group

Comprehensive outpatient therapy for women navigating intimacy, relationships, and recovery.

A Women’s IOP to Focus on Recovery

The Meadows Outpatient Center provides a place of support and healing for women who struggle with relationships and intimacy issues, including sex and love addiction.

Our women-only IOP intimacy group is ideal for women just beginning treatment and also offers individuals who have completed a primary inpatient or residential program the opportunity to step down and begin to practice maintaining the structure and tools they have gained. The outpatient program for women setting allows patients to focus on recovery in a real-life environment while they carry on with other day-to-day activities.

Women’s Outpatient FAQs:

What is a women’s outpatient program for intimacy issues?

The Women’s Intimacy Group is a specialized outpatient program at The Meadows designed for women who struggle with intimacy, relationships, and related issues, including sex addiction, love addiction, emotional or sexual trauma, attachment or avoidance patterns, and co-occurring mental health or substance use problems.

How does outpatient treatment differ from inpatient/residential care?

Our women’s outpatient treatment allows you to receive support and therapy while continuing to live at home and manage day-to-day life. Unlike inpatient programs, you don’t stay on-site 24/7. You attend scheduled group and individual sessions a few days per week, but keep up with regular responsibilities. This setting helps you practice recovery in the context of your real-life environment.

Who is the women’s outpatient program for? Is it only for people new to treatment?

The Women’s Intimacy Group is designed for women at different stages of recovery. It’s appropriate both for individuals beginning treatment and for those who have completed an inpatient or residential program and are ready to “step down” to a female IOP program to practice maintaining recovery tools and structure while re-integrating into everyday life.

What kinds of women’s issues does the program address?

Common concerns the group helps with include: intimacy and affection issues, sexual addiction, love addiction, sexual or emotional trauma (including PTSD), relationship difficulties (e.g., challenges with partners or attachment), co-occurring mental health or substance use issues, and related mood or trauma-based problems.

What does the women’s outpatient program involve?

The core program is an eight-week curriculum that includes:

  • Women-only group therapy (4 days/week, ~3 hours/day)
  • Individual counseling with licensed clinicians
  • Evidence-based therapies such as
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed approaches like Somatic Experiencing® (SE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and neurofeedback via The Meadows’ Brain Center
  • 12-Step support and peer accountability
  • Optional family participation through a Family Recovery Support Group (where offered)
  • Additional holistic and wellness-based supports (depending on location) such as trauma-sensitive yoga, meditation, or other mind-body wellness offerings.

Is this program only for sex or love addiction?

No. While sex addiction and love addiction are among the key issues addressed, the program also supports recovery from emotional trauma, attachment or intimacy disorders, sexual trauma, co-occurring mood or substance use disorders, difficulties with relationships, and other related mental health challenges.

How can I get started or learn if this program is right for me?

You can reach out to The Meadows Outpatient Center intake team by calling 833-755-7570, or using our contact form. During intake, a clinician will help assess whether the Women’s Intimacy Group is a good fit based on your background, current challenges, and recovery goals.
